What is It?
Osteoarthritis affects millions of people around the world and is considered
as the most common type of arthritis in the UK. Inflammation of the tissues in and around the joints
and damage to cartilage cause pain, discomfort and stiffness. Osteoarthritis, also known as ‘wear and tear’
is most frequently seen in older adults but can affect people of all ages, including children. It can affect any joint
in your body, but is particularly common in joints that are used repetitively like the hands and wrists,
and load bearing joints such as the spine, knees and hips.
There is no cure for osteoarthritis, however chiropractic and osteopathy treatment may help
to reduce pain and improve the function and mobility of the joint.
